Fleckner+Simon experience report

Fleckner + Simon optimises automotive testing with the miniHIL from PROTOS to reduce costs and shorten development times.

FLECKNER + SIMON – Automotive Engineering and Consulting

"miniHIL reduces costs and speeds up the development process"

Michael Salzer, CEO, F+S Fleckner und Simon Informationstechnik GmbH

The problem

The cost pressure on automotive suppliers is enormous. At the same time, specialised test equipment and its licences are expensive in the automotive sector. As a result, savings are made primarily on test equipment, tests are carried out less frequently and faults are only detected at a late stage. This leads to higher fault rectification costs and longer development cycles.

The solution

The PROTOS miniHIL offers an attractive price and licence cost model, which can break this cost spiral.

The advantages of using the PROTOS miniHIL:

  • Every developer has their own miniHIL test setup – possibly even in their home office
  • Once the system is set up, developers can quickly develop their own test cases and integrate them into test automation
  • Instead of manual ‘switch tests’, feature tests are developed for the miniHIL and can be reused
  • Developers can efficiently ‘smoke test’ the entire software before checking it in to avoid side effects of their changes.
  • The same test setup is used at the developer’s workstation as for centralised test automation: if a tester finds an error, a developer can easily reproduce the error by running the error regression test at their workstation.

The offer

F+S supports its customers in setting up PROTOS’ miniHIL: from the initial analysis of your requirements to safety qualification in accordance with ISO 26262. We configure the system according to customer requirements, train employees for efficient project use and, on request, provide support for product development. We also offer miniHIL and Polarion ALM tool integration: Test cases are imported from miniHIL to Polarion and kept synchronised. This avoids tool breaks and manual synchronisation of test cases between tools.

Thanks to our decades of experience in the automotive sector, we are able to map the presentation and management of your test specifications in accordance with Automotive SPICE® – our intacs® certified assessors will be happy to advise you.
